Terry Hazzard currently serves as the Director of Counseling and TRACC (Tilmaake Resourcesand Career Center - Tilmaake, a Marshallese word that means "the sharing of information") within the Department of Student Services at the College of the Marshall Islands (CMI) in the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI). Terry supervises a team of three professional counselors (student advocates) responsible for counseling services for emotional and personal growth of the students and further assists others in overcoming personal and family issues that may be impacting their academic achievements. In addition, Terry also supervises the CMI"s Career and Transfer Center which develops a comprehensive career development, placement and transfer program for current and transferring students who plan to transfer to a 4-year institution. Prior to his current position, Terry worked at the RMI Ministry of Education as the Director of Secondary and Vocational Education where he oversaw, directed and managed the nation's five public secondary schools and supervised ten employees (5 principals and 5 assistant principals). While at the Ministry of Education, Terry was also the coordinator for the National and Local Close Up Foundation in the RMI. Terry completed a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and a Maste's Degree in Educational Foundations (Educational Leadership in the Asia-Pacific Region) from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Terry enjoys the challenges that come with being in a leadership position and looks forward to the opportunities to gain valuable skills from the ELDP program.
