Pernes Samuel serves as the Chief of Compliance Investigation for the Pohnpei State Office of the Public Auditor. In this role, he oversees investigations into reported cases of wrongdoing within the government, ensuring proper procedures are followed without bias. His responsibilities include addressing complaints and concerns, even when they involve high-ranking officials or close family members. Pernes is dedicated to promoting accountability, transparency, and fairness, recognizing the importance of his work in strengthening trust in government operations.
Growing up in Pohnpei during the transitional period of U.S. administration and the formation of the Compact of Free Association, Pernes experienced the unique intersection of democratic governance and customary monarchy. This dual influence instilled in him a deep respect for cultural traditions, such as greetings, offerings, and taboos, while fostering a strong sense of fairness and justice for his community.
Beyond his professional duties, Pernes enjoys fishing and farming, skills passed down from his father and grandfather. He values his faith, believing that God provides both purpose and guidance in life. Pernes is committed to becoming a valuable contributor to his community and sees the Executive Leadership Development Program (ELDP) as an opportunity to enhance his leadership skills and maximize his potential.
