Betty Sigrah serves as the Chief of Supplemental Support Services at the Department of Education in Kosrae, Federated States of Micronesia (FSM). She oversees key programs including Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Workforce Skills Development & Training, and Professional Development. Her responsibilities include program design, strategic planning, proposal writing, monitoring and evaluation, and administrative oversight, ensuring these initiatives meet the needs of Kosrae’s educators and students.
Betty is a technical advisor to the Kosrae Inter-Agency Council, supporting children and youth with disabilities. She also mentors educators through the FSM Department of Education’s Certificate in Education Leadership, Policy, & Practice (CELPP) program and coordinates the University of Hawaii at Manoa’s Kosrae Pacific Master of Education (PACMED) program. Additionally, she leads the KDOE–US Job Corps (Hawaii) partnership, focusing on job training and career placement for young adults.
Prior to transitioning to education in 2019, Betty spent 18 years in the environmental sector. She worked with the Kosrae Island Resource Management Authority, coordinating USDA Forest Service programs, and later served as Capacity Building Program Manager at the Micronesia Conservation Trust, contributing to regional conservation efforts.
Betty holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Administration from Park University and aspires to pursue a Master’s Degree in the same field. She is deeply involved in community volunteer work, serving as Chairwoman of the Kosrae State Scholarship Board and holding leadership roles in women’s organizations.
