Sweetyona is currently the Special Assistant to the Governor of Kosrae. In this position, she and her six-person staff oversee the operations of the Governor's Office, which includes such responsibilities as budget preparation and execution and management of policies and regulations. Prior to this position, Sweetyona worked with the Kosrae State Legislature as the Assistant Legislative Counsel, and served as Kosrae State's Assistant Attorney General and State Prosecutor, where she supervised fifteen staff and managed the state police force. Sweetyona attended Kosrae High School and Chaminade University of Honolulu. She received a Bachelor of Law at the University of the South Pacific Law School in Port Vila, Vanuatu, and her Master of Law from the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii.
